$ YouTube Money $

Are we good?

It's been too long since we said hello. We've been a little caught up in Diablo 3, our daily grind, family and the fact that I finally got a new PS3. Today though, I wanted to post about something that I found myself doing in the last few weeks that I never did last year. Watching the shit out of some YouTube.

The future is now?

Look I know, this isn't new. This has been happening for a long time, but I feel the quality level is starting to get extremely good. I've had a YouTube account for a few years now, Oct 23 2006 in fact. I've never done anything useful with it and I don't plan on it. Most people haven't. I would upload some footage from a concert or if we were selling some vintage computer item at work and it needed a live demo, I would use my account. But that was it. Now, I have over 20+ channels that I sub and use my account to set up music playlists for some of my favorite songs. It's a brilliant way to find new music and share it with friends. I love having a tailor made entertainment destination that shows what I like whenever I want to watch it. I have content from video games, music, cooking, original webseries, vlogs, and of course the occasional cat video (what would the world be like, without cat videos?).

Drunk Bacon God

In the last few years people have been able to launch careers using only YouTube. Harley Morenstein from EpicMealTime used to be a substitute teacher before he found his drunk-bacon god and decided to do YouTube. You really think he works a regular job anymore? Granted, he parleyed the show's popularity into sponsorships and merchandising, but today you have to diversify your portfolio to attempt to make any decent money on the internet. Creative groups of people are coming together and creating entire networks on YouTube to showcase their content. Some of my favorites are Nerdist, FreddieW, GeekandSundry, YOMYOMF, Machinima, RoosterTeeth, HuskyStarcraft, NerdyNummies, PressHeartToContinue, Boyfriend vs. Girlfriend, and obviously many, many, many, many more.

It doesn't get much cuter

I just wanted to give a little shout out to some of my favorite youtubers, so would you kindly give them a like, and a sub, and a share. See you on the Zef side.
